Body Contouring at ChiroMed

Is it one area, or is it the weight?

Most people have one area that will not shift. It stayed after the weight came off, and another month of effort does not change it.

That is frustrating, and it is a different problem from carrying too much weight.

What does body contouring actually treat?

Body contouring treats the area, not the weight. At ChiroMed it is delivered with Ultraslim, a device applied at the surface of the skin that treats one region at a time.

Nothing is cut, nothing is suctioned, nothing is injected, and you walk out and get on with your day.

Will you be told if this is the wrong treatment?

We will tell you when contouring is the wrong answer for you, and Dr. Justin Bergin, DC has 22 years of practice behind that judgment.

That is also why the wider metabolic health line here exists. Shape and health are not the same question.

It is one of the treatments offered through our weight loss service.

What body contouring actually does

Body contouring is non-surgical fat reduction aimed at one area of the body rather than at overall weight. At ChiroMed it is delivered with the Ultraslim device, applied at the surface of the skin. There is no incision, no suction and no anesthesia, and no recovery time is needed afterwards.

The treatment is aimed at a region, not at the scale. A flank, an abdomen, an upper arm: somewhere that has not changed while the rest of you did.

That is a shaping goal, and shaping is a legitimate thing to want. It is also a narrow one.

Losing weight, treating obesity and fixing blood sugar are different problems with different treatments. Johns Hopkins Medicine publishes plain guidance on nutrition and fitness for a reason.

No device substitutes for what you eat and how you move, and a clinic implying otherwise is selling you something.

At ChiroMed the device is Ultraslim, named here on purpose: the category name covers several very different machines and you deserve to know which one is in the room.

How it works

  1. The device goes on the skin

The Ultraslim device is applied over the area being treated while you lie still. Nothing enters the body and nothing is removed surgically.

  2. Nothing is numbed

You stay clothed apart from the region being treated. You feel no anesthetic because none is used.

  3. You leave and carry on

You dress and drive yourself home immediately afterwards. There is no downtime to plan around.

Who body contouring helps

  • One area rather than the whole of you
  • A flank, an abdomen or an upper arm
  • A region that has not changed while the rest of you has
  • A shaping goal, which is a legitimate thing to want

Who it does not help

  • Losing weight
  • Treating obesity
  • Fixing blood sugar
  • Replacing what you eat and how you move

Why patients choose it

Nothing enters the body

No incision, no cannula, no anesthetic, no stitches and no recovery period. The risks are much smaller than those of surgical fat reduction.

It is aimed at one area

General weight change does not let you choose where it comes from. A contouring treatment is applied to the area you want changed.

You are assessed first

Dr. Justin Bergin, DC or the clinical team looks at the area and asks what has changed and what has not. You are then told whether this is the right treatment, or whether your goal is really a metabolic one.

No downtime to plan around

You come in, you are treated, you leave. Nothing about the session requires a day off or a recovery week.

Cost, insurance and financing

The cost depends on which area is treated, how many areas you want treated, and how many sessions the assessment supports. That is decided after we have looked at you, so there is no menu price here.

The one published price

Consultation, Exam, X-Rays (If Needed) & Report of Findings: Only $47

What affects the cost

  • Which area is being treated and how large it is
  • Whether one region is involved or several
  • How long a course the assessment supports, which is set at the consultation
  • Whether contouring is the only thing you are having done here

What a course includes

  • The consultation and assessment of the treatment area
  • A written recommendation with the full cost of the course before it begins
  • The in-office sessions themselves
  • Reassessment of the area as the course progresses

Payment:

Body contouring is self-pay, and no insurer covers a shaping treatment. If chiropractic care is part of your plan, that part can be billed to insurance, and our team verifies those benefits before your first visit.

Medicare coverage varies by plan and by service, and our front desk will tell you exactly what applies before you commit to anything.

Payment plans are available for self-pay care. Ask the front desk which plan fits your course of care.

New patients start the same way: Consultation, Exam, X-Rays (If Needed) & Report of Findings: Only $47.

What Non-Surgical Fat Reduction Means

Non-surgical fat reduction means changing the amount of fat in one area of the body without an operation. No cannula, no anesthetic, no stitches, no week of recovery, and no general anesthesia risk to weigh up beforehand.

How it differs from surgery

What it does not mean is a surgical outcome without surgery. Liposuction removes a volume of tissue in one procedure.

An external device works gradually, across a course of sessions and one region at a time. The change is a shaping change rather than a transformation. A clinic that blurs the two is borrowing a surgical result to sell a non-surgical service.

The trade you are making

The trade is simple. You give up the size of the change, and you avoid the surgery, the anesthesia and the recovery.

For a patient who is close to where they want to be, that trade is usually the right one. For a patient carrying a significant amount of extra weight, it is not, and no number of sessions will make it so.

The Difference Between Shaping and Weight Loss

Two words come up constantly on this service and they deserve a straight answer.

Obesity is a disease. The National Library of Medicine describes it as having too much body fat for your height, which raises the risk of many other conditions.

A contouring device does not treat it. Someone whose health is affected by their weight needs a supervised metabolic program, and saying otherwise would cost them money and change nothing.

Metabolic syndrome often travels with it. Waist measurement, blood pressure, blood sugar, triglycerides and cholesterol all drift in the same direction at once.

Reducing fat in one region does not move those numbers. Changing what your metabolism is doing can.

Where contouring does fit. Patients who have done the hard metabolic work and are left with one area that will not follow are the people it was built for.

Finishing the job you started is a reasonable thing to want.

The equipment this uses

A red light therapy panel positioned over a patient on a treatment table.
Red light therapy is delivered by a panel positioned over the treatment area.

Why ChiroMed

Why does it matter that this is not a contouring clinic?

A clinic that only sells contouring has one answer to every question. ChiroMed has six lines of work.

Dr. Justin Bergin, DC can tell you that your real problem is metabolic and hand you a different plan, without losing anything by saying it.

What else runs in the same building?

Across 22 years he has built one practice that runs chiropractic, spinal and knee decompression, and Omniwave shockwave. Neuromed electroanalgesia, functional testing and metabolic care run in the same building.

On a cosmetic service, that range mostly buys you the freedom to be told no.

Shape and health are treated in the same building here, and they are still separate questions.

If weight, blood sugar or energy is what actually concerns you, the metabolic side of this practice is where to start. The consultation will tell you which of the two you are really asking about.

Where you would be treated

Body Contouring in recent research

These sources are independent of this practice and none of them endorses it. They are listed so the reasoning behind the care can be checked rather than taken on trust.

  1. Cryolipolysis and associated health outcomes, adverse events, and satisfaction: A systematic review and meta-analysis

    Obesity Reviews, 2025

Pooled trials found reduced adiposity measures at three months alongside a notable rate of minor adverse events, which is the honest picture of fat freezing.

  2. High-Intensity Focused Electromagnetic (HIFEM) Energy With and Without Radiofrequency for Noninvasive Body Contouring: A Systematic Review

    Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, 2024

The reviewers conclude that higher quality data and patient reported outcomes are still needed, which is why we make no promises about muscle toning devices.

  3. Non-Invasive Body Contouring Technologies

U.S. Food and Drug Administration, 2025

The FDA sets out what these devices are cleared to do and asks patients to weigh benefits against risks before treatment, which is the conversation we have.

Compare your options

Real alternatives exist, including ones this practice does not perform. Here is the honest set.

Option What it isTypically considered whenInvasive?Offered at ChiroMed?
Ultraslim device sessions Our approach A device applied at the surface of the skin to reduce fat in one specific area. Overall weight is roughly where you want it and one region has not followed.No. Applied externally, nothing enters the body.Yes
Medically supervised weight loss program A supervised plan built from your history, measurements and bloodwork, with clinical review while you are on it. Weight, blood sugar or metabolic health is the goal, rather than changing one area. No, unless a prescribed medication forms part of the plan.Available at ChiroMed as a separate service, and it is the right starting point when weight itself is the problem
Liposuction A surgical procedure that removes fat through a cannula under anesthesia. A significant change in one session is wanted and the patient is a suitable surgical candidate.Yes. Surgery, with anesthesia and a recovery period. Not performed here. Appropriate when a surgeon judges that a larger volume of fat needs removing in one procedure and the patient accepts a surgical recovery.
Bariatric surgery An operation that changes the size or route of the stomach and intestine. A surgical team judges the risks of staying at this weight outweigh the risks of operating.Yes. Major surgery with permanent changes and lifelong follow-up.Not performed here. Genuinely the right call for some patients with severe obesity, particularly where serious weight-related illness is present.

If your goal is health rather than shape, contouring is the wrong treatment for you. You will be told that at the consultation, before you pay for a course.

Is body contouring right for someone like you?

Candidacy is decided at the examination, not on a web page. These are the general lines.

Likely a good candidate if

  • You are close to a weight you are comfortable with and one area has not followed
  • The area has stayed put through genuine changes to eating and activity
  • You want a shaping result and understand that it is not a weight loss result
  • You would rather not have surgery, anesthesia or a recovery period
  • You can attend a course of sessions rather than expecting a single visit to finish the job
The most common answer we give here is that the patient wants a metabolic result rather than a cosmetic one. It is cheaper to hear that at the consultation than to find it out later.

We will point you elsewhere if

  • You are pregnant or breastfeeding
  • The real goal is weight loss, blood sugar or metabolic health, which needs a different program
  • There is an active skin infection, open wound or rash over the area to be treated
  • An implanted electronic device, a recent surgery in the area, or a condition your physician has not cleared
  • The expectation is a surgical-scale change, which a non-surgical device will not deliver

When we are not the right answer, we say so, and connect you with someone who is.

Not sure? That is exactly what the examination answers

Your first visit

What to expect, step by step

The first visit checks whether Ultraslim is the right tool for what is bothering you, and whether something else would serve you better.

We look at the area, talk about what you are hoping for and say honestly what this can and cannot change. The number of sessions is quoted in writing before you commit.

  1. A clinician and patient talking across the consulting desk at the first visit.
    01

    Consultation and assessment

You show us the area and tell us what has and has not changed. We ask what your goal actually is, because shaping one region and changing your health are different objectives with different treatments.

  2. Dr. Justin Bergin discussing a treatment plan with a patient at ChiroMed
    02

    What we recommend

If contouring suits your goal, you are told how many sessions it would take and what it will cost before anything begins. If it does not suit your goal, you are told that instead and pointed to the option that does.

  3. A clinician walking a patient through their findings on screen.
    03

    What happens in a session

You lie down and the Ultraslim device is applied over the treatment area. Nothing enters the body, no anesthetic is used, and you dress and leave when it is finished. There is no downtime to plan around.

  4. A ChiroMed treatment room with a drop-piece adjustment table, a rolling stool and a wall-mounted monitor.
    04

    Review as the course progresses

The area is reassessed against where it started and the plan is adjusted on what is actually happening. If it is not working for you, we will tell you, rather than sell you more sessions.

  5. An adjustment that is not aimed at a specific finding is just noise. We treat what the exam and the X-ray tell us to treat.

Body Contouring questions

Tap a message for the honest answer. Call Lakeland (863) 940-3444

Is body contouring the same as weight loss?

No, and confusing the two is the most common mistake made on this service. Contouring reduces fat in one area.

It does not lower your weight meaningfully and it does not treat obesity. It does not change blood sugar, blood pressure or the other health risks that carrying extra weight brings.

If health is the goal, a supervised metabolic program is the right door.

the clinic team
How much does body contouring cost?

It depends on which area is treated, whether one region is involved or several, and how long a course the assessment supports.

You get the full cost of your recommended course in writing before anything begins, and nothing is billed that was not agreed first.

The only figure published on this site is the $47 new patient exam.

the clinic team
Is there any downside to body contouring?

The honest downsides are expectation and expense. Results vary between people and between areas, and a non-surgical device will not produce a surgical-scale change.

No insurer covers it, and there is a real risk of treating the wrong problem altogether.

Local skin reaction or temporary tenderness can occur, and that is discussed at the consultation.

the clinic team
Will insurance pay for body contouring?

Coverage varies by carrier, and some services may only qualify as cash-pay.

Body contouring is self-pay. Payment plans are available, and the front desk will tell you which one fits the course you were recommended.

the clinic team
Do the results last?

What happens afterwards depends on you. A treated area does not become immune to future weight change, so results hold best when eating and activity stay roughly where they were.

Anyone promising a permanent outcome regardless of what happens next is overselling. That is why the assessment asks about habits before recommending a course.
