Why does nobody in The Villages talk about this one?
Around here it is the one health problem that stays off the table. People compare knee surgeons over lunch at Spanish Springs and swap cardiologists in the pro shop, then say nothing about the reason they gave up the Wednesday game.
Calls to this office about bladder control often do not start out that way either. Somebody rings about a back, a hip or numb feet, and the real question arrives on the way out the door.
What happens if I ask at the Lady Lake office?
So, the answer before you have to ask. Pelvic floor work at 929 US-441 is external, clothed and conservative.
Dr. Justin Bergin, DC does the examination himself, and you can book without explaining yourself on the phone.
What pelvic floor recovery is
Pelvic floor recovery at our Lady Lake office is external, clothed retraining of the muscles that hold the bladder closed under pressure, plus the hips, low back and breathing that load them. It is for leaking, urgency and pelvic weakness in women and in men.
Three different faults produce the same symptom, and they need opposite handling. A floor that has genuinely gone weak wants loading. A floor that grips all day gets worse if you squeeze it more, which is exactly the advice commonly given. A floor with enough strength that simply fires late wants timing work instead.
Working out which of the three you have is what the first appointment is for.
The floor also takes a load every time you brace to get out of a low chair, lift a bag of mulch or serve, and in a community that gardens, plays and lifts grandchildren that is not incidental.
The nerves running your bladder and pelvic floor leave the lower spine too, and stenosis, disc change and old back surgery are ordinary findings at this age, so that gets examined in the same visit.

Where exactly is the Lady Lake office?
We are at 929 US-441 #404, Lady Lake, FL 32159, on the north side of the CR 466 junction.
Suite 404 sits at ground level with its own parking immediately outside, so there is no garage to cross and no stairs. There is a bathroom a few steps inside the door.
Can I get here by golf cart?
Golf carts reach us from several directions and the paths get rerouted, so call ahead for the current one.
Being on the highway rather than inside a village is part of why people choose this office. Patients come from across Sumter, Lake and Marion counties.
How far are the squares and the hospital?
Spanish Springs Town Square is the nearest of the three squares, Lake Sumter Landing is an easy run, and Brownwood Paddock Square is the longest trip.
UF Health The Villages Hospital is close by, and the Lake-Sumter State College campus is a short drive away in Leesburg. We are not affiliated with either one.

Patient experience at our Lady Lake office
Why is there no wall of reviews on this page?
Lady Lake is the newer of our two offices and its review base is still small, so there is no wall of local testimony here and none borrowed from Polk County. Here is what is true at this address instead.
Which days does Dr. Bergin treat at Lady Lake?
Dr. Justin Bergin, DC treats here Monday, Wednesday and Thursday, morning and afternoon, with Tuesday and Friday by appointment.
Where do patients travel in from?

What do people ask this desk before they book?
Two questions reach this desk regularly about this service: whether you have to explain yourself at reception, and whether Dr. Bergin is the one doing the examination. No, and yes.
Independent background: a Cochrane review of pelvic floor muscle training approaches for urinary incontinence in women.

Pelvic Floor Recovery in The Villages in recent research
These sources are independent of this practice and none of them endorses it. They are listed so the reasoning behind the care can be checked rather than taken on trust.
- Pelvic floor muscle training versus no treatment, or inactive control treatments, for urinary incontinence in women
Cochrane found trained pelvic floor work improves stress and mixed incontinence symptoms, and recommends it as first-line conservative management for women.
- Pelvic floor muscle training for preventing and treating urinary and faecal incontinence in antenatal and postnatal women
Structured training in early pregnancy may prevent later incontinence, though its use as a treatment after birth remains uncertain.

Pelvic Floor Recovery in The Villages questions
Tap a message for the honest answer. Call The Villages (352) 915-7150
Does anything internal happen at this appointment?
No. The examination at our Lady Lake office is external and you stay clothed for it. We assess the hips, the low back, the deep abdominal wall, your breathing and the way you brace, plus the nerve supply coming out of your lower spine. That is the whole of it. If what we find points to a case that needs internal assessment or specialist pelvic health physical therapy, you are told that plainly and pointed toward a provider who does it. Nobody here will surprise you on the table.
Are your treating days here the same as the Lakeland office?
No, and it catches people out. This office treats Monday, Wednesday and Thursday, 8:30 AM to 1:00 PM and again from 2:30 PM to 6:30 PM. Tuesday and Friday are by appointment, and we are closed Saturday and Sunday. Wider hours quoted elsewhere online belong to our other office, and you will find the schedule for the Lakeland office on its own page. For this address those three days carry the bulk of the week. Call (352) 915-7150 and ask what is open rather than assuming the wait is long.
Can I come by golf cart, and where do I leave it?
Plenty of patients do. Cart paths and crossings near US-441 get rerouted, so instead of printing a route that goes out of date we ask you to call (352) 915-7150 first. The desk will tell you the current way in from your village and where to leave the cart. If you drive, parking sits at ground level immediately outside suite 404, with no garage and no stairs between the car and the door.
Will Medicare pay for this at your Lady Lake office?
Coverage varies by plan and by service, and this is one where the honest answer is that our front desk has to check yours. Pelvic floor recovery here is self-pay. Where chiropractic care forms part of the same plan, that portion does bill insurance, and the team verifies your benefits before your first visit, Medicare and Medicare Advantage included. You will be told which part is which before you agree to anything. Payment plans are available for self-pay care.
I had prostate surgery. Is this appointment for men too?
Yes, and men ask about it at this office too. Leaking and poor flow control after prostate surgery are common, they can improve, and conservative retraining is standard practice in a good many countries while rarely being offered here. The assessment is external and clothed, the same as it is for women. Keep your urologist informed, because we work alongside them rather than around them.
How do I find you off US-441 and CR 466?
We are on North US-441 just above the CR 466 intersection, at 929 US-441 #404, Lady Lake, FL 32159. Coming down from Summerfield or Ocala you reach us before the junction. Coming up from Leesburg or Fruitland Park you cross CR 466 first and we are shortly after it on your right. Look for suite 404. Allow a few extra minutes at the CR 466 lights on a weekday morning.
